Battle Abbey School
In the garden at Notre Dame in Paris.
We then walked through Paris, up the Champs Elysees which was magical as it was Christmas time.
Planning the day
I looked through magazines and spoke to various people. It's amazing how many people you know that will have ideas and be able to help with the big day.
We changed our minds various times about what we wanted for our wedding but when we looked around Battle Abbey School for the first time, we knew that we wanted to get married there.
The hen and stag nights
My husband went out with a few friends for a curry whilst I had my hen do at the Vineyards in Lamberhurst and had a section of the restaurant for my party.
It was pouring with rain when I left to go to Battle however, it dried up when we arrived and the day was perfect.
We changed our mind so often as we originaly wanted to get married in a castle, have a meal in a pub with our closest family and friends and then have a big party in the evening.
When we looked at the cost of doing this, we realised it would be cheaper to have it all in one place. We look at so many venues but it was hard to find something original that wasn't just churning out wedding after wedding.
Nick and I had a magical day in Battle the year before and I had remembered that the Abbey had a school that sat in the grounds. I googled to see if they did weddings and we were so lucky as they did but they were minimal in a year due to the fact that it was a school.
When we looked around we were blown away and freakishly, they had a date free at Christmas time and we booked it.
This was a surprise from my parents as they had booked an old car (I'm such a girl that I don't know the model!) and it made the wedding photos by adding to the traditional classic theme.
I wore an ivory lace dress but as it was winter, I had a black long coat made to keep me warm for the photos.
The bridesmaids wore a red/plum coloured dress with the little flower girls in white dresses with plum on the underlay of the dress. The groom, best man and page boy wore grey suits with red/plum cravats.
What was your wedding theme/colour scheme?
Winter colours and a Christmas theme.
What was your favourite wedding purchase?
My black wedding coat
The flowers and table decorations
The most amazing flowers which comnsiated of roses and red/plum ribbons. We had 2 small trees that had LED lights at the entrance of the school.
We had soup, roast beef and apple crumble and custard. For the evening we had fish and chips.
A beautiful tiered sponge and fruit cake that was made by one of my best friends mum.
The first dance
Dance me to the End of Love and Steve from the Charlie Rivers band sung it beautifully. We tried to dance but realised we should have practiced!
The Charlie Rivers band.
The memorable moments
Having a glass of mulled wine heading down to the secret garden for photos. It was perfect.
Euro Disney for 4 nights. Weird choice but we loved it!
Always think of what you want and don't try and make everyone else happy. It's your day so enjoy it.
